CUSTOM-MADE FOOT WEAR FOR DIABETES PATIENTS

​Diabetes can cause serious foot complications such as ulcerations, infections and amputations of the foot if the diabetes and feet are not looked after well. 

Podiatry Works Clinical podiatrist Bala Gopal pointed out that diabetes affects circulations to your feet and the lack of blood supply will delay any wound healing. 

“This can increase the risk of infection that can lead to amputations. It also affects the peripheral nerves in the feet. You may lose your protective sensation in your feet which may result in you being less sensitive to damages. Diabetic foot complications can be prevented if you know how to look after your feet,” he added. 

The clinic provides diabetic wound care, in addition to providing special medicated diabetic insoles and shoes to offload the high pressure point.

It also does assessment, diagnosing and treatment of foot and lower limb problems. These may include skin and nail problems, foot and ankle injuries, foot complications related to other medical conditions and problems with gait and walking.
