STROKE GAMES SET TO RE-IGNITE LIVES IN OCTOBERAUG 28, 2019 @10.22PM
Stroke Games is once again taking centre stage at the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM).
“It is ingrained in our DNA to be competitive. But after a stroke, you lose this competitiveness. Your self-esteem and pride have all been over taken. I want to garner this competitiveness back in to them,” said Janet Yeo, the founder of NASAM. “We’ve decided that we want to channel the energy - the competitiveness and what is better than sports. So, Stroke Games has been birthed out of this need to challenge our stroke survivors – 250 of them who have become stroke champions. They have regained their confidence, self-esteem and have a life to look forward too. “To the next Stroke Games, we want to challenge every stroke survivor that comes through NASAM door - to push themselves – to become a stroke champion. So, that is why it is important that NASAM follow through with this Stroke Games – every two years to give new hope, new spirit to live again to all our survivors,” she added. The second instalment of Stroke Games this year held from October 19 – 20 at Panasonic National Sports Complex, Shah Alam will see nine clubs challenge themselves to achieve greater recovery. Members of the public are welcome to join in and cheer as well as give stroke survivors the emotional support they need during the two-day event. |
