SUNWAY GROUP DONATES 300 BLOOD BAGS FROM DONATION DRIVE
JUNE 23, 2022 @ 5.02PM
More than 300 blood bags were donated to the National Blood Centre (Pusat Darah Negara; PDN) following a successful blood donation drive organised by the Sunway Healthcare Group (SHG) between 13-17 June 2022.
The blood donation drive which took place over five days at three of SHG’s facilities in the Klang Valley – Sunway TCM (Traditional & Complementary Medicine) Centre @ Sunway Geo; Sunway Medical Centre Velocity, KL and Sunway Medical Centre, Sunway City – saw a resounding 323 donors from all walks of life come forward to do their part for society. This initiative is the first such initiative being organised at the group level in conjunction with World Blood Donor Day on 14 June and is in line with the Prime Minister’s call for more blood donors to save members of Keluarga Malaysia. “We are thankful for corporates such as Sunway Healthcare Group for organising blood donation drives like this one. We believe that with more Malaysians donating blood regularly, we can continue to help those in need as the demand for blood for patients is constant,” said Dr Thane Moze Darumalinggam, Head of Procurement Division of National Blood Centre. “It is heartening to see the good response at our blood donation drive from people of all ages and races doing their part for the community. With the drop in blood supply due to the pandemic, we hope that our efforts will help the National Blood Centre to achieve the target collection at an optimal level. Beyond this being a one-off effort, it is also our aim for this initiative to move more to continue donating blood on a regular basis,” said Consultant Haematologist, Dato’ Dr Chang Kian Meng, Sunway Medical Centre.
