COVID-19: MCO extended to May 12 APRIL 24, 2020 @ 4.42PM
The Movement Control Order (MCO), currently in its third phase, has been extended to another two weeks. The extension will take effect from April 28 to May 12.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a special televised broadcast earlier today. Although the number of new Covid-19 cases had dropped significantly, he did not rule out the possibility of a further extension beyond May 12. The first phase of the MCO was implemented by the government from March 18 to 31 as a measure to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. On March 25, Muhyiddin announced the second phase lasting until April 14. A third phase was then announced from April 15 to April 28. To date, a total of 3,542 patients with Covid-19 have recovered – making Malaysia a country with the highest recovery rates in the world. |
