Eurodrug Laboratories (M) Sdn Bhd recently launched Diapo-Care, a cutting-edge formula for the prevention and treatment of diaper rash. Diapo-Care is formulated with two active ingredients – Protease Enzyme Inhibitors (PEi) and Dexpanthenol which effectively prevent and treat the root cause of diaper rash.
The natural PEi found in Diapo-Care inhibit the activity of faecal protease enzymes, which break down and damage the protective layer of protein-enriched skin cells. At the same time, Dexpanthenol forms a barrier that helps the skin in affected areas to regenerate. The combination of both ingredients makes it the ideal solution for preventing and treating diaper rash through its dual mode of action. Diaper rash or perianal dermatitis, is a common form of skin inflammation that appears red and tender-looking in the diaper region encompassing the buttocks, thighs and genitals. The prevalence of diaper rash in the general population is estimated to range from seven to 35 per cent, with more than half of babies between the ages of four and 15 months developing the condition. “The best way to prevent and treat diaper rash is to keep the baby’s skin dry and clean by changing their wet, dirty diapers as soon as possible, cleaning with tap water and applying a layer of barrier cream after every diaper change,” said ABC Children Specialist Clinic Consultant Paediatric Dermatologist Dr Leong Kin Fon. Results from a clinical study in patients with perianal dermatitis showed that PEi almost completely supressed the protease activity in faeces. In a separate clinical study, PEi also demonstrated improvements in infants’ dermatitis, inflammation, pain and sleep disorders. No adverse effects were observed after the treatment with PEi. In addition to the easy application and removal of Diapo-Care, the preparation is also hypoallergenic, fragrance free and does not contain colouring agents. It has been proven safe by the United Kingdom Research Institute and is also clinically proven to be effective in severe cases of diaper rash with lesions. |
