Cansurvive Malaysia, a non-profit cancer charity, proudly announces the 14th Malaysian International Conference on Holistic Healing in Cancer, scheduled for 13 October 2024 at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur. Open to the public and free of charge, this annual event focuses on the theme "Palliative Care in Cancer," underscoring the critical role of holistic healing for cancer patients and their caregivers.

In light of the fact that cancer became the third leading cause of death in Malaysia in 2022, rising from fourth in 2021, this conference aims to highlight the increasing importance of palliative care as part of comprehensive cancer management.

Dr C.D. Siby, President of Cansurvive Malaysia, expressed, "In 2020, Malaysia saw 48,639 new cancer cases, and projections suggest this number could rise to 84,158 by 2040. This conference is not solely about cancer survival; it’s about enhancing the quality of life for patients by addressing their physical, emotional, social, and financial needs through supportive care. Palliative care works alongside cancer treatment, offering comfort and easing the journey, benefiting both patients and their loved ones."

The event will feature a series of sessions and panel discussions led by prominent experts from Malaysia, South Korea, and India, including esteemed figures such as Dr Richard Lim, National Head of Subspecialty for Palliative Medicine at the Ministry of Health Malaysia, and Dr Amir Farid Isahak, a pioneer in Holistic Integrative Medicine in Malaysia.

Sponsored by Berjaya Corporation Berhad and its Executive Chairman, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan, the conference continues Cansurvive Malaysia’s commitment since 2011 to providing vital information and support not only for cancer patients but also for caregivers, families, and anyone interested in palliative care.
