Perak Community Specialist Hospital appoints new Board of VisitorsOctober 18, 2024
In today’s fast-evolving healthcare environment, the role of a hospital’s Board of Visitors (BOV) (Ahli Lembaga Pelawat) has become pivotal in fostering strong connections between hospitals and their surrounding communities. The Ministry of Health (MOH) requires hospitals to form these boards under Section 104 of the Private Healthcare Facilities and Services Act 1998 [Act 586], which mandates private hospitals with 50 or more beds to establish a BOV.
Perak Community Specialist Hospital (PCSH) is proud to announce the appointment of its new Board of Visitors for a three-year term, chaired by Datuk Hj Mohamed Odman. The board also includes renowned community leaders such as Dato’ Hj Azizul Kama, Dato’ Wan Azahari, Shanker Retinam, and Hanson Lau, all of whom bring a wealth of experience and a commitment to improving community health engagement. Enhancing community relations and healthcare services The newly appointed BOV will play a significant role in bridging the gap between the hospital and the public, ensuring that PCSH’s facilities and services are accessible and understood by the community. Their primary focus is to foster strong relationships that build trust between the hospital and its patients while also promoting a deeper understanding of healthcare services available in the region. Community health initiatives One of the notable successes of PCSH’s BOV has been its commitment to community health initiatives, including health screenings in Manjung, Ayer Tawar, and Sitiawan. These programs aim to raise awareness about the importance of preventive healthcare, emphasizing the message that “prevention is better than cure.” By encouraging regular health check-ups, the BOV has played a vital role in educating the community about the importance of early detection and maintaining overall wellness. A personal touch to patient care BOV members regularly visit hospital wards, acting as mediators between patients and hospital administration. These visits ensure that hospital services and policies are aligned with the needs and expectations of patients and their families. By gathering feedback and sharing insights with hospital management, the BOV helps improve the quality of care provided. In a gesture of compassion, BOV members also take the time to bring joy to the hospital’s paediatric wards by distributing gifts to children and congratulating parents of newborns, especially during festive periods. Their personal engagement adds a heartwarming touch to the hospital experience, making a significant impact on the morale of both patients and staff. Sustaining high standards of care As active participants in PCSH’s growth and development, the BOV helps the hospital maintain high standards of care. Their involvement ensures that PCSH remains a modern, multi-disciplinary healthcare facility that meets the real needs of the community, providing affordable, quality healthcare services. The ongoing support and dedication of the BOV are instrumental in PCSH’s mission to serve as a healthcare leader in Perak, offering a wide range of medical services while staying true to its commitment to patient-centered care. |
