ALTY Orthopedic Hospital empowers National Blind Football Team

The Malaysian Blind Football team comprise of athletes with a full visual impairment classified as B1.
ALTY Orthopedic Hospital (ALTY), through its #Sports4All campaign will be empowering the Malaysian Blind Football Team as strategic healthcare partner. The Malaysian Blind Football team comprise of athletes with a full visual impairment classified as B1.

Through this partnership, ALTY will be providing support in the form of placing medical teams on standby during blind football matches, physio treatments during trainings, an assortment of sports tapes, pre–competition health screenings, educational workshops on injury prevention and rehab for the visually impaired athletes. 

The Malaysian Blind Football Team will also be receiving sports sprays and gel to better equip them throughout trainings and matches. 

Associate Professor (C) Dr G Ruslan Nazaruddin Simanjuntak, Chairman of ALTY Orthopedic Hospital, said, “ALTY is home to committed sports surgeons who are dedicated to providing the best treatments to athletes everywhere.” 

“We are pleased to extend our “social responsibility” initiatives to the nation’s blind football team and aim to utilize both our orthopedic expertise and advanced technology to provide them with the best screening and treatments.”

Head Coach & Technical Director Sunny Shalesh is elated with the initiative by ALTY Orthopaedic Hospital as he says this partnership will further strengthen its agenda for high performance development for the national team athletes. 

“The team was long in need of a strategic healthcare partner to provide professional advice and medical services.  With the sponsorship of rehab supplies & medical support services, we will now be able to work alongside ALTY to better manage injuries sustained by visually impaired athletes and the rehabilitation process to enable “return to play”.

Commenting on the partnership, Jeff Bote, Country Manager of Viatris Malaysia said; “Viatris is delighted to partner with ALTY Orthopedic Hospital in its #Sports4All campaign to empower athletes to live healthier at every stage of life. We believe our legacy in pain will enable us to raise awareness on different types of sports injuries, the need to remain fit and expand access to treatment options to both abled and disabled athletes living with sports injuries. Through this partnership, Viatris will also provide ALTY Orthopedic Hospital with sports related educational content especially on the prevention and management of sports injuries.”

2015 – ASEAN Para Games Gold Medal 
2016 – Ranked ASEAN Number 1  
2017 – ASEAN Para Games Bronze Medal 
2017 – Ranked World Number 17 
2018 – Ranked ASEAN Number 6 

The #Sports4All campaign will be running throughout August till November with further initiatives carried out to support athletes from different backgrounds and sports in the forms of webinar, workshops and screenings.
