Scuba diving is not just an exhilarating sport; it’s a journey that offers numerous health benefits and a unique connection to the underwater world. Meet Hadry Hyzan, a 29-year-old PADI scuba diving instructor who has dedicated his life to sharing this passion with others. Teaching both in Kuala Lumpur and the breathtaking Tioman Island, Hadry’s journey into diving is as captivating as the vibrant ecosystems he explores.
A family connection to the sea “I come from a huge family of 14 siblings from my grandmother’s side and another 14 from my grandfather,” Hadry shares, reflecting on his large and lively family. It was during one of his aunt’s weddings that he met his uncle, who owns a dive center in Tioman Island. This fortuitous meeting sparked Hadry’s journey into the world of scuba diving. “When I started in 2008 with the open water diving course, I was awe-struck by the fishes, corals, and ecosystem. This made me pursue an advanced diving course, along with other qualifications like the Emergency First Responder and Rescue Diver, before becoming a dive master and eventually an instructor.” Now, Hadry conducts half of his courses in theory and confined water sessions in Kuala Lumpur before taking his students to the stunning island for the practical portion. The thrill of breathing underwater “Just breathing underwater gives an incredible feeling,” Hadry emphasizes. With only five percent of the underwater world explored, the other 95% remains a mystery waiting to be uncovered. “When you dive, you realize that you’re just a tiny dot in a really big universe,” he adds, highlighting the humbling experience of being surrounded by the vastness of the ocean. Health benefits of scuba diving Hadry believes that scuba diving offers a plethora of health benefits that extend beyond the thrill of exploration:
Future adventures await Having dived in Krabi, Thailand, Hadry’s next adventures will take him to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, followed by Weh Island in northwest Sumatra, Indonesia, next May. His enthusiasm for diving is infectious, inspiring others to take the plunge into this incredible sport. Scuba diving is more than just an adrenaline-boosting activity; it’s a gateway to improved health, personal connections, and a deeper understanding of our planet. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a curious beginner, the underwater world awaits you, filled with wonders yet to be explored. |
