Jomrun - KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge is back
July 8, 2021
JomRun, Southeast Asia’s leading running app, is bringing back the iconic JomRun®️ KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge (KLTITC) after a 2-year hiatus from physical events. Malaysia’s leading staircase run will take place on August 14 at 6 am and is set to attract over 2,000 participants.
With an 19-year track record, KLTITC has firmly entrenched itself as a signature sporting event attracting runners from across the world. The run offers up a unique challenge to runners, featuring an ascent up 2058 steps bringing finishers to one of the highest peaks in Kuala Lumpur at a staggering 288 metres above ground level. Commenting on the return of KLTITC, Chang Yi Hern, Founder of JomRun said, “We are immensely proud to be bringing back one of the most recognisable runs. The JomRun®️ KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge has challenged and inspired thousands over the years and we know it will do the same again this year. At JomRun we aim to consistently create more opportunities for run enthusiasts whilst simultaneously promoting an overall healthy lifestyle. I believe that this Towerthon achieves both of these objectives through its iconic status and unique challenge.” “As the first and only professional tower run organiser in Malaysia with our races complying with the rules of the Towerrunning World Association, we have taken precautions to ensure the safety of each participant. What this means is that, to avoid any injuries or unfortunate events, runners will be running up the tower 1 by 1 and the winners will be based on the time taken to complete the whole challenge. This year, we are glad to see the majority of our participants thus far have been Malaysians and foreigners from Singapore, Brazil, Japan, Germany and more - with our oldest contestant being 73 years old and the youngest only 11 years old. We hope more people join the run and test their limits!” Yi Hern added. Registrations for KLTITC are now open and close on 12 August. Malaysian nationals looking to participate can enjoy a special early bird registration rate of RM80 whilst international participants can sign-up now at RM120. Prize money Each participant will be entitled to receive the following, an Ultron Superlite event jersey, a race bib with TrackAsia RFID timing chip, an E-certificate, personal accident insurance, light refreshments and a finisher’s medal for those who complete the challenge. Finishers can also opt to add on an exclusive Premium Finisher’s jersey available at a discounted price of RM49.99. Winners from the open category will each receive RM1,000 in prize money and a trophy, with 1st runners up receiving RM500 and a trophy and 2nd runners up getting RM250 and a trophy. In the veteran category, winners will receive RM500, RM250 and RM100 respectively alongside the trophy. KLTITC is powered by JomRun with official apparel partner, Ultron. The event is supported by JomRun Running Club, TrackAsia - premium RFID timing chip and KL Tower Malaysia. Speaking about KLTITC, Ainol Shaharina Sahar, CEO of Menara Kuala Lumpur said, “There is great excitement amongst our team to finally be welcoming the running community back to KL Tower. 2 years away but now runners will get to experience the unique challenge of the JomRun KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge once more. The run cements KL Tower as a must-visit destination for culture, adventure and nature.” To find out more information about the JomRun®️ KL Tower International Towerthon Challenge, please visit https://www.jomrun.com/event/JomRun-KL-Tower-International-Towerthon-Challenge-2022 |
