Sateera launches smart anti-infective technologyDecember 22, 2025
Sateera, Malaysia’s newest biotechnology innovator of the smart anti-infective technology, has officially launched with independently verified scientific data underscoring its breakthrough. Validated as the first technology capable of selectively eliminating harmful bacteria while preserving beneficial microbes, Sateera sets a new benchmark for microbiome-safe hygiene. Unlike conventional disinfectants that wipe out all bacteria indiscriminately, Sateera's intelligent, targeted approach works in harmony with the body’s natural microbiome, strengthening long-term immunity, maintaining skin balance, and protecting overall microbial health.
Scientific validation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and SGS Malaysia confirms the technology's selective-kill performance and microbiome-safe profile. Both institutions independently verified that the technology effectively eliminates harmful germs while preserving beneficial bacteria — a breakthrough far beyond today’s conventional “kill-everything” antibacterial products. This milestone builds on over a decade of R&D and is safeguarded by 14 international patents spanning Malaysia, China, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. Proven selective-kill & microbiome safety UTM, through its Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) and Bioprocess & Microbiology Laboratory, independently validated the antibacterial and antifungal performance of the smart anti-infective innovation, confirming strong inhibition against multiple harmful bacteria and fungal strains. Crucially, UTM also verified its microbiome-safe profile, demonstrating that the technology targets harmful microorganisms while preserving beneficial bacteria essential for a healthy microbial environment. Backed by rigorous methodologies, including in-vitro antimicrobial assays, compound activity analysis and formulation-based testing, the findings reinforce the unique selective-kill capability. “Our microbiological research shows that the smart anti-infective technology demonstrates a rare dual capability, strong inhibitory action against harmful microbes while preserving beneficial bacteria essential to a healthy microbiome,” said Professor Dr Hesham Ali El Enshasy, Director of the Innovation Centre in Agritechnology for Advanced Bioprocessing (ICA), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). “As hygiene science evolves, it is increasingly important to balance antimicrobial effectiveness with microbiome safety. Technologies that can intelligently distinguish between harmful and beneficial microbes represent a meaningful advancement for public health, while also reinforcing Malaysia’s growing role in natural anti-infective innovation.” 99.99% Elimination of harmful germs in 5 minutes SGS Malaysia, a globally recognized microbiological testing laboratory, independently evaluated the antimicrobial performance using the BS EN 1276:2019 standard (5-minute contact time). Results showed that it delivers up to >99.99% reduction against several harmful bacteria, and high-level reduction against common yeast such as Candida albicans. These findings confirm fast and effective antimicrobial action, powered by a natural formulation free from alcohol and added harsh disinfectant chemicals. “For years, hygiene has focused on killing 99.99% of all bacteria, without recognizing the critical role good bacteria play in our health. Today, science shows that wiping out everything can actually weaken our natural defenses. This innovation offers a smarter path forward, protecting beneficial bacteria while eliminating only the harmful ones. With validation from UTM and SGS, this proves that a more natural, selective and microbiome-safe future is not only possible, but already here,” said Dato’ Loh Shin Siong, Founder of Sateera. This scientific breakthrough also underpins Sateera’s recent attainment of BioNexus Status from the Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation, which grants the company a 10-year tax exemption and national biotechnology certification. Backed by 14 international patents and recognized as the region’s most-patented anti-infective formulation, this innovation is helping pave the way for a new era of intelligent antibacterial solutions that protect the body while preserving its natural microbiome. |
