The types of food you eat prior to lovemaking may contribute to gas.
Healthcaretoday, Dr Mohd Ismail Mohd Tambi, farting during sex, reproductive health, farting orgasm, wind, gas,
Question
I need help! Every time I have a big orgasm, I pass gas -- loudly! Why does this happen? What can I do, or what could be wrong with me?

It's something that I can't control. I can't be the only one that this happens to! Is there anything I can do to make it stop? Do I need to warn partners ahead of time?

Here's your answer

Relax; you don't need to warn anyone of anything. You don't have a communicable disease; you're just passing gas, which is a normal bodily function.

The timing may be a by-product of your orgasm, because following the tension of a climax, all of your muscles relax. And this happens to a lot of people. The thing to remember is that all noises are fair play in sex, so you can hopefully become more accepting of those you make, rather than feeling embarrassed about them.

Food to avoid
Meanwhile, especially prior to lovemaking, you may want to pay more attention to the types of food you're eating. Slowly increase the fiber in your diet and avoid beans and fermented foods and drinks, such as cheese, soy sauce and alcoholic beverages.

Another culprit in causing gas is carbonation, so replacing your soda with lemonade or iced tea may solve the problem. You also may want to consider the combination of foods that you're eating. For example, mixing proteins and carbohydrates in the same meal can often lead to gas.

For many people, this is surprising information since meat and rice are such a mainstay in many homes and restaurants.

There are also a number of over-the-counter medications for excess gas like Disflatyl, as well as some home remedies such as ginger or peppermint tea, but the best treatment is prevention.

There are plenty of great books and Websites that discuss nutrition, and it would probably be worth educating yourself further. Not because passing gas during sex is a problem, but rather because having less gas is more comfortable and better for your digestive system.

In the meantime, try a little background music to muffle the sounds and scented candles, potpourri or incense to sweeten the air.
